The projects were to analyse the Telecom Infrastructures market in a south Asia and Southeast Asian country, describe the current market, further consolidation potential, technology trending, operational challenges, growth drivers, regulatory issues and challenges, spectrum allotment to support IoT, and new business, site acquisition, RoW, energy challenges and value creation opportunities.
The scopes included the recommending best practice strategies, the road maps, tentative cost and stakeholders to address the challenges to help the clients take informed decision about feasibility of entering the local market and participate in new opportunities such as FTTH, 5G, IoT, and ground support infrastructures to GNSS etc .
The scopes also included transforming from connectivity driven approach to solution driven approach, in the context of 5G new deployments models, by unlocking the value of tower proximity with IoT based customers, thus enlarging customer base.
This web based RMS solution along with 24×7 TOC was implemented for remote site health monitoring , picking up alarm through controller and a set of sensors physically installed at sites and helped clients with factual site status , about energy consumption, energy assets status (commercial mains, genset, battery), fuel consumption, shelter temperature, aircon working, and alarms and convert these alarms into actionable intelligence for cost optimization, SLA management, corrective measures. The data statistics were used to prepare management dashboards for real time business decision and proactive customer engagement.

Power and fuel used to run telecom towers account for substantial OPEX of a telecom operator. In the energy pass through model , Towerco would raise invoice amount of power and fuel actually consumed, to the operator for reimbursement. In this system, Towerco lacked motivation to optimize and explore new efficient energy assets while operators were under constant pressure to deal with increasing cost of power and fuel.
The project was to analyse the power consumption for each site over a period and suggest fixed cost energy subject to operator’s active load remaining constant , thus relieving customer from increasing energy consumption bill, and constant reconciliation. This also helped both Towerco and operators in reducing manpower employed for such tasks.
The objectives of this managed services project were management and control of all network facing activities, core, NMS, network SLAs, infrastructure management, delivery organisation, performance reporting and interface management with all suppliers on behalf of the operator in line with agreed Service Levels (SLAs).
Result- improved operations SLAs, reduced expenses and right sized manpower and reduced conflicts among OEM and infrastructure service providers.

This project was to have a tower infrastructures operations and maintenance agreement with the operator, since upon initial assets carve out, most of the resources and tools of the TowerCo were still common with the Operator, who was acting as both the client as well as TowerCo O&M vendor.
Consequent upon towerco operationalisation , the project was to take back O&M services, by a managed services agreement
Result – Uninterrupted infrastructure operations and maintenance, post assets carve out, allowing Towerco much valuable time to set up its own organisation, process, ERP tool, NOC and putting revised contract with new set of vendors in place.
The project was to prepare quality process manual giving guidance and directions for passive infrastructures build, checklist to be followed and standard reports for different tower type, starting from soil inspection, CME works, tower erection, material specification and inspection until the site is declared RFI.
The main purpose was to have a standard process and best practices in place not only for TowerCo internal team and vendors, but also to give the potential customer, or auditor an appreciation of an organisation from the outside.
Result– Improved quality of construction, conformity to project manual processes and lesser site visits leading to faster RFI and increased revenue by the customer.

In the first part, the objective was structured transition, separation strategy, define scopes, approach, dependencies, timelines, basic organisation, change management, workstream wise transition deliverables, TSA preparations, recommending ad-hoc tools supports, stakeholders’ management and governance framework.
In the second part, the focus was on replacing TSA with MSA, identify and implementation of design, cost , SLA, and process optimization. Recommending best practice operations for sustainable operations, optimization of system, multi-tenant site design and CME build with the aim of transforming the working TowerCo to an independent Towerco with its own site design, IT system, process, organization without any support from parent entity.
